Schubertiade with The Da Camera Society

Meagan was glad to return to The Da Camera Society for a second event this year, this time a program dedicated to the Lieder of Franz Schubert in an intimate house concert. Alongside pianist Victoria Kirsch and baritone John Buffett, she performed familiar hits as well as lesser-known gems by this titan of German art song. Victoria played on a gorgeous 1861 Blüthner piano for the occasion.

Here was our full program:

Duet - Mignon und der Harfner, D. 877 (Goethe)

Songs of longing - Sehnsucht, D. 879 (Seidl), Dass sie hier gewesen, D. 775 (Rückert), Gretchen am Spinnrade, D. 118 (Goethe)

Selections from Winterreise, D. 911 (Müller) - Der Lindenbaum, Rückblick, Frühlingstraum

Water songs - Auf dem See, D. 543 (Goethe), Auf der Donau, D. 553 (Mayrhofer), Auf dem Wasser zu singen, D. 774 (Stolberg)

Night songs - Ständchen, D. 957 (Rellstab), Im Dorfe, D. 911 (Müller), Wandrers Nachtlied, D. 768 (Goethe)

Duet - Licht und Liebe, D. 352 (von Collin)

Victoria sits at the glossy, light brown piano with her left hand in the air as though she has just finished playing a song, with Meagan and John standing in front of the piano with a period music stand in front of them. The lid of the piano is open and behind them on the wall is an intricate brown tiling. Once can see the backs of heads of seated audience members.
